Bonnie's "Long Life" Salad Dressing

  • 1 part Braggs Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother)
  • 1 part Olive Oil (first cold press)
  • 1 part filtered water
  • 1 heaping Tbs. Italian Seasoning
  • 1 heaping Tbs. Garlic
  • 1 heaping tsp sea salt
  • Fresh ground pepper
Stir up in a large mason jar and leave out on counter until it gets used up.

Chinese Cabbage Chicken Salad

1 head cabbage
4 C. cooked chicken
2-4 green onions
1 package ramen noodles(uncooked)
1/2 C. slivered almonds
1/2 C. vegetable oil
3 T. vinegar
2 T. sugar
1 t. salt
1 t. accent
1/8 t. pepper

Chop cabbage and green onions and toss with cut-up chicken. Add noodles and almonds. Mix remaining ingredients in blender and pour over tossed portion.

Judith's Spaghetti Salad

1 lb. spaghetti (cooked according to pkg. directions & drained & rinsed in cold water)
1 (8 oz.) bottle Kraft Italian dressing ( can use fat free)
2 med. tomatoes, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 red onion, chopped
1 cucumber, diced
Salad Supreme to taste

Combine spaghetti with Italian dressing. Add the next 5 ingredients. Mix well. Pour Salad Supreme over all; mix well. Refrigerate.

Bow Tie Pasta Salad

  • 1 box Barrilla bow tie pasta
  • 1 bunch of green onions ( about 1/2 c.), finely chopped
  • 1 bunch celery (about 1 c. or whatever you desire), finely chopped
  • 1 lg. can pineapple tidbits (drained)
  • 2 small cans mandarin oranges, optional
  • 1-2 C. chicken, cubbed
  • 1 bottle kraft coleslaw

1. Cook pasta as directed on box. In large bowl mix all ingredients. Refrigerate.

CARROT & RAISIN SALAD

Grandma Seedall's recipe
  • 5 carrots grated
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1/2 c. walnuts chopped
  • 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple, optional
DRESSING:
  • 1 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 c. milk
1. Mix dressing ingredients until smooth. Add to other items. Chill. 6 to 8 servings.

Aunt Jo's Broccoli Salad

  • 2 large broccoli stalks
  • 1 small red onion, chopped
  • 1/3 cup sunflower seeds
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ½ lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 tbls vinegar

1. Cut broccoli florets into bite size pieces. Combine broccoli, onion, sunflower seeds, raisins, and bacon in large bowl.

2. For dressing, mix mayonnaise, sugar and vinegar. Add dressing immediately before serving.

Grandma Seedall's Blueberry Salad

2 small packages raspberry Jell-O
3 oz cream cheese
2 cups hot water
1 medium can crushed pineapple w/juice
1 (14 oz) can blueberries w/juice
1 pint whipped cream

1. Dissolve Jell-O into the hot water, add cream cheese and stir until mixed. Add pineapple and blueberries and fold in whipped cream. Pour into glass bowl and chill in refrigerator until firm.

Aunt Jo's Mandarin Orange Salad

Salad:
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 1 can mandarin oranges
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2-3 green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 pkg (2-3 ounces) slivered almonds, candied
Candied Almonds Directions:

1. Place approximately 1/4 cup sugar and almonds in frying pan. Stir constantly over medium heat until almonds are coated and light brown. Quickly move almonds to wax paper until cooled.

Dressing:
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Grandma Seedall's Cranberry Jell-O Salad

Another holiday favorite.
  • 1 pkg cranberries
  • 2 (3 ounce) pkg cherry Jell-O
  • 2 medium apples, grated
  • 2 (8 ounce) cans crushed pineapple with juice
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 3/4 cup celery, finely diced
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
1. Place cranberries in food processor and chop. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar and cranberries. Mix well and set aside. Place Jello-O in 9x13x2 pan and dissolve with boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Add apples, celery, pineapple, cranberries and walnuts. Stir to combine. Jell-O will be thick. Chill until set. Serve with sweetened whip cream

Spinach Salad

This one is guaranteed to be a show stopper.

Salad
  • 1 head red lettuce
  • 1 package spinach leaves
  • ¼ cup red onion
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 cup grated jack cheese (mozzarella works well too)
  • 1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2-3 mushrooms, sliced

Dressing
  • 2/3 c red wine vinegar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tsp tarragon
  • 1 tsp dry mustard
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ c sugar
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped onion

Add dressing immediately before serving.

Cranberry, Pecan & Pear Salad

One of Grandma Cornelia Wilson's many delicious salads...

Dressing
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup raspberry vinegar
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. honey Dijon mustard (or honey mustard
  • 2 tsp. raspberry jam
  • Pinch or two of garlic salt

1. Stir sugar and raspberry vinegar together and then stir in remaining dressing ingredients.

2. Add pecans, dried cranberries, blue cheese, and 1 diced pear to two-three heads of romaine lettuce. Toss salad with dressing immediately before serving.
